How Do You KNOW You Are Saved?

The Bible clearly teaches that it is possible to know for sure when your salvation is real. The assurance of the believer is not based on a feeling (though Christians may “feel” saved), but on the principles of God’s Word. We can know we are saved because Christ is in our hearts. We have done the things commanded in the Bible. 1 John 5:12 says, “He that hath the Son, hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God, hath not life.”

We can know we are saved because of the witness of the word of God in 1 John 5:10-11. “He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God, hath made Him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave Of His Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.”

We can know we are saved because of answered prayer. John 14:14 says, “If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.” And in 1 John 5:14-15, we read, “And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”

We know that we are saved because of our understanding of the scriptures. 1 John 5:20 tells us, “And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is true, and we are in Him that is true, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”

We know we are saved because we keep His commands. “Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17.

We know that we are saved because we love the brethren. “We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.” 1 John 3:1.

We know that we are saved because we have the inner witness of the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:16 tells us, “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.”

Because of this assurance, the believer need not be ashamed of Christ, even when he finds himself in difficult circumstances. When you are saved, you will know you are saved! No worries, no fears, you will put everything in God’s hands, fully knowing that He will take care of it all! He will take care of finances, job and home satisfaction, and where your soul is going to spend eternity when it departs this earth! There will be no doubt in your mind!
